The PROMISE team kicked off 2026 on a high note, welcoming new staff to strengthen participant recruitment and outcome ascertainment. New team members completed protocol training from 12–14 January, followed by a two-day refresher training (15–16 January) with the full PROMISE team.

The refresher training focused on how the team follows mothers and babies after birth and gathers key study information. Staff reviewed procedures for the birth visit and follow-up visits at one week and six weeks after delivery. These check-ins help ensure the study clearly understands the effects of STI screening and treatment during pregnancy on maternal and newborn health.

With recruitment nearing the 2,000-participant mark, the team is now seeing increasing numbers of full-term births and is excited to begin capturing these critical outcome data. The arrival of newborns also allows several embedded PROMISE sub studies to move forward, opening the door to new areas of research. Investigators are looking ahead with enthusiasm as PROMISE moves into this next phase—more updates coming soon
