TAMIRA has reached a significant milestone in menopause health research in Zimbabwe, successfully convening the Inception Meeting for the Menopausal Health Community Guidance Group (MGG).

This marks an important step toward more inclusive and responsive care. The meeting brought together midlife women, community stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and ministerial representatives, creating space for open, honest dialogue. Participants did more than share perspectives but they challenged assumptions, identified gaps in current knowledge, and actively shaped the future direction of the study. They discussed how:
Women face significant challenges in accessing trustworthy, accessible information about menopause, as well as in sharing that knowledge within their families and communities
Healthcare providers have gaps in training, resources, and systemic support for menopause care
There is a strong, collective willingness to rethink menopause care so it reflects local realities, cultural contexts, and everyday lived experiences
The meeting underscored a vital truth: meaningful research begins with lived experience. While the study has already established strong foundations through protocols, scoping reviews, and early qualitative findings, this gathering added something essential and real-world clarity grounded in community voices from across Zimbabwe.
As the study progresses, TAMIRA and the Menopausal Health Community Guidance Group will play a central role in shaping a health intervention designed to strengthen the capacity of healthcare professionals to better support women through menopause in Zimbabwe as well as educate those around them.

We extend our sincere thanks to all MGG members for their time, insights, and commitment. This inaugural meeting marks the beginning of an important journey toward more inclusive, informed, and compassionate menopause care.
