Kids with Kids: Every Girl Has the Right to Thrive so Here's How we Do That

On 22 June, the Kids with Kids implementation team, Ethel Dauya and Nonhlanhla Ndondo, attended Zimbabwe's national launch for the Multi-Sectoral Framework for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Management in Goromonzi High School. The framework, comprehensive in scope, brings together multiple government sectors, communities, and international partners—including UNICEF, UNESCO, and UNFPA—to create a joined-up response. Its development was deeply collaborative, shaped through close partnership between our Kids with Kids team, the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, and wider civil society input. 

The policy has three highlight aims:

1. Explore methods to prevent adolescent pregnancy through access to contraception and family planning for young people in Zimbabwe. 

2. Aim to ensure that young pregnant women, young parents, and their children receive adequate healthcare. 

3. Explore the multi-sectoral impact of young pregnancy from labour, social effects and education.

Moving forward, the implementation of the framework can now begin. The Kids with Kids implementation team will serve as technical advisors during the rollout, with a specific focus on strengthening communication around the framework's core pillars and ensuring evidence-based approaches to post-conception care.
