The The Clinical ResEArch Training fellowship with Industry involVEment (CREATIVE) programme is an EDCTP3 funded project in Africa, operating in Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, The Gambia, Ghana, Uganda and Zambia. Through an innovative blend of Masters-level academic training, hands-on clinical research experience and industry exposure, CREATIVE aims to equip a cadre of African scientists to tackle persistent and emerging disease threats in the region and globally.

The programme will: 

1. Provide high quality MsC training in clinical research-relevant subjects to 12 early career scientists from six countries in Western, Eastern and Southern Africa through blended distance learning and face-to-face study designed to optimise opportunity for participation, completion and skill retention.

2. Embed fellows in clinical research studies through 6 host institutions located across Africa.

3. Provide industry internships, placements and work shadowing within the pharmaceutical industry, clinical research organisations and other commercial entities in order to provide a comprehensive development experience that positions Fellows to advance along a wide range of career pathways.

4. Strengthen clinical research capacity and knowledge exchange by establishing a network of African scientists trained in clinical research-relevant subjects to strengthen clinical research capacity and knowledge exchange on the continent, leveraging existing regional networks of excellence.
