From general hand to driver – Mary on gets her drivers' license

There’s a new driver in town!

Congratulations to Mary Kabasa, THRU ZIM’s general hand, who recently passed her driving test. She was supported through the Smile & Shine EDCTP initiative to complete her course. She gushed about this life-changing opportunity “My work involves cleaning offices and helping around — this opportunity gives me a whole new area to explore.

The "Smile and Shine” initiative, supports the professional development of staff members, encompassing both research and support roles. Staff submitted proposals detailing courses, workshops, or conferences they wished to attend, alongside explanations of how these opportunities would enhance their professional growth and contribute to the organisation’s objectives.
