Celebrating Dr Chido Dziva Chikwari's National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Global Advanced Fellowship

THRU-Zim is proud to announce that Dr Chido Dziva Chikwari, alongside four other postdoctoral researchers, has been awarded the prestigious National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Global Advanced Fellowship.

The fellowship aims to support researchers conduct independent studies across sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, tackling a range of vital health challenges from equitable stroke care, public law and pandemic preparedness. 

Dr Chikwari’s research focuses on the development of youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services in Zimbabwe, including access to contraception, HIV self testing in a non-judgemental environment, and further STI screening. 

“This fellowship has been an important step in my career development, giving me the opportunity to lead my own research and build vital collaborations with leading research institutions in Zimbabwe.”

We look forward to seeing the impacts of Dr Chikwari’s work as she continues to support young people in Zimbabwe.
