The Biomedical Research and Training Institute (BRTI) is celebrating a key milestone in data governance.

Mr. Tawanda Nyengerai has been appointed BRTI’s Data Protection Officer after successfully completing training with POTRAZ and the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT), supported by THRU-ZIM’s Smile and Shine initiative.

His certification, awarded at a graduation ceremony at Cresta Lodge in Harare, equips BRTI with in-house expertise to ensure all research projects meet national and international data protection standards.

Alongside this achievement, BRTI is now formally registered as a Data Controller with the POTRAZ Data Protection Authority, reinforcing its role as a trusted custodian of research data and reflecting the institute’s commitment to excellence and integrity.
